Children’s dentistry
Tasmanian children have close to the highest dental decay rate in Australia, and also one of the lowest dental check-up rates in the country.
The Child Dental Benefit Scheme has greatly improved accessibility to quality dental screening and treatments for children. This has been an excellent, long-standing government initiative to assist families with their child’s dental needs. To check what the scheme covers and if your family is eligible, you can visit this website here:
Why the lounge?
Tamar Dental Lounge, Launceston welcomes your child and offers treatment under the Child Dental Benefit Scheme. Our practice has looked after children’s dental and oral health for more than 30 years.
We offer extensive options to cover all your child’s needs and our highly skilled team is trained to look for any arising dental problems to focus on a more preventive approach. Therefore, we advocate for regular dental visits in our encouraging and friendly environment. No question or concern is too big or too small.
Dr Chris Jacobs and Oral Health Therapist (OHT) Karen Lam both work together, forming a Super Paediatric Dental Team. They utilise their respective areas of expertise to provide quality care for your child. Karen has had extensive training and experience with children’s dentistry and is a highly sought after OHT in Tasmania. OHTs are specially trained to manage the challenges of treating a child’s mouth and in the initial child dental consultation. Dr Chris Jacobs has experience in treating extensive and complicated dental cases. He has been looking after special-needs and paediatric patients under General Anaesthetics for over 20 years. His theatre rights at Calvary, St Vincent’s Private hospital allow for cases that are a challenge in the dental chair to be successfully treated under General Anaesthesia.
